Mr. Romel Ramarack, General Manager of Trinidad and Tobago Housing Development Corporation Construction Company Limited (TTCCL) has over fifteen (15) years experience covering project management, construction management, contract management and engineering design in the public and private sectors.
Mr. Ramarack’s professional and career objective is to continuously develop professional competencies and create & promote innovation in the fields of Construction Law & Dispute Resolution, Project Management and Construction Management to properly serve his professional entities both locally and internationally, his stakeholders and his country, the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
He has predominantly been in the role of managing cross functional teams with the ability to lead in a manner which elevates and inspires teammates through a unique combination of the leadership styles. This unique ability allows him to adjust his approach as the situations arise through the combination of authoritative, democratic, coaching, affiliative, pacesetting and coercive leadership styles. Mr. Ramarack’s background, which covers academia & research, lecturing & mentoring, industry experience and continuous development through the affiliation to professional bodies; contributes to this unique ability.
The key to his successful track record is attributed to his talent to effectively communicate and manage teams through a combination of leadership styles. His tenure in public sector housing spans to date ten (10) years in managing the HDC’s housing portfolio of an overall yield of 8,000 mixed housing units at an approximate budget of TTD 7.0 Billion. Furthermore, he has been instrumental through dispute resolution over the years in successfully determining construction contract claims of a combined value exceeding TTD 2.0 Billion.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree and Master of Science (MSc.) degree in Civil Engineering from The University of the West Indies and a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Construction Law and Arbitration from the Robert Gordon University Aberdeen. Mr. Ramarack is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE - UK) and the Engineering Council (EC - UK) and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb - UK). He is an International Professional Engineer (UK) under the Engineering Council (EC - UK), a Registered Engineer under Board of Engineering Trinidad and Tobago (BoETT), and a Professional Engineer under the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago (APETT).
Mr. Nigel Barrow, Head of Planning, having been PMP certified, holds a Master of Science (MSc.) in Urban and Regional Planning, a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, and Bachelor’s of Science (BSc.) in Management Studies.
He has previously worked in the HDC for over seventeen years in diverse capacities, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the needs of the population for housing and the limitations within the housing industry.
Having attended numerous regional fora on informal settlements, sustainability, climate resilience and energy efficient design he is fully equipped, motivated and passionate in his role in planning and developing sustainable, green housing communities and urban regeneration projects suitable and accessible for all citizenry.
Mr. Vidale Ramroopsingh, Head of Engineering, has over ten (10) years of professional experience in Civil Engineering & Infrastructure Design; Project Planning & Development and Design Development & Management. His experience has been focused on Public Sector Housing Projects, with specific emphasis on social housing aspects.
He holds a MSc. Civil Engineering (Dist.) and a BSc. Civil Engineering (Hons.) from the University of the West Indies. He is also registered with the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago (BOETT) under the Civil Engineering Discipline and holds registration with the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago(APETT) as an associate member.
Mr. Mark Tang Yew, Head of Construction of the Trinidad and Tobago Housing Development Corporation Construction Company Limited (CCL) has over (15) years experience covering project management, construction management and contract management in the public and private sectors.
He has worked in various positions at the HDC since 2011, and has served as Senior Project Manager for the past 8 years.
Mr. Tang Yew’s professional passion resides in fostering communication across all stakeholders within the industry and to promote data collection and information sharing within the professional community.
He holds a MSc. Construction Management, a BSc. Civil Engineering from the University of the West Indies and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London. He is also PMP certified and registered with the Project Management Institute and Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago(APETT).
